Fergus is a 9 year old, black, male Scottish Terrier. He’s an extra large boy. Fergus is very friendly to people, he generally gets along well with other dogs but is accustomed to being the only dog. He really just wants the attention of his people/person, could do without the other dog.
Fergus came to us after his owner died suddenly. He’s been very upset about losing his dad and his home, but is slowly adjusting. He lived with a family member for about a month temporarily before we got him. During that time we found out that he had Cushings and had not been treated since the death of his dad, so we started him over in tests and in new medication to manage it. He will need to remain in it for his lifetime, but it should keep this in check and will not shorten his life. He was also quite overweight, so he’s presently on a reducing diet and doing well between that and low calorie veggies as snacks, which he loves, instead of the hot dogs, etc he was getting. He and his dad were inseparable, so he’s accustomed to being with his person fulltime. His adopter would need to be retired or work from home. We’re looking for a home for him in the northeast with a quiet vibe, Scottie experience, and who can understand and afford his daily medication. He’s a nice boy and deserves to live out the rest of his years with love.
