DESCRIPTION
Meet Pepper, our longest resident...
Pepper is a 6-year-old terrier mix who has spent over 2.5 years waiting at the rescue while countless other dogs found homes. She's the dog people always feel sorry for-but somehow never choose.
When Pepper first arrived, she was terrified of everything. She didn't trust people, didn't know how to relax, and spent much of her time hiding. But little by little, she learned the world could be safe. Now she's house trained, crate trained, gentle, easygoing, and finally ready for a family of her own. She's even learned to co-exist with cats!
Pepper loves soft beds, slow walks, other dogs, and staying close to her people. She's happiest curled up beside you on the couch or following you from room to room just to be near you. She walks nicely on leash, knows how to sit and shake, and will gladly accept treats-especially rotisserie chicken and peanut butter pupsicles. But more than anything, Pepper just wants to be chosen.
She does best in calm, low-chaos homes, prefers women, warms up to men with treats, and would thrive with older children or no children. And now, I've learned to better regulate my nervous system. I've learned to trust people and make friends with other dogs. I've learned to co-exist with cats. I've learned how to sleep peacefully. I've learned that people leaving doesn't always mean forever. And I've learned that a home could be mine one day!
Pepper doesn't need a perfect family or a big adventure. She just needs someone to look at her and say, "You've waited long enough, girl. Come on home."
