My name is Bear and I am a 3-year-old Rottweiler mix who weighs about 90 lbs.
I'm a big, handsome boy with an even bigger heart, and I'm looking for a patient family to help me settle into my next chapter.
I came to rescue after my previous owner experienced medical issues and could no longer care for me and the other large dogs on the property. Needless to say, life has changed quite a bit for me, and I'm still learning how to navigate it all.
I am going to ask for an adult only home at this time.
Right now, I can be a nervous guy, especially with fast movements or situations where I feel restrained. When I get stressed, my goal is simply to get away from whatever is making me uncomfortable. Because of my size and sensitivity, I'm looking for adopters who understand dog body language and are willing to let me build trust at my own pace.
Now for one of my favorite topics: FOOD. I absolutely love treats and am very food motivated, which is a wonderful tool for training and relationship-building. Despite my size, I take treats gently and am happy to work for a tasty snack.
Like many Rottweilers, I am likely to form strong bonds with my people. The breed is known for being loyal, intelligent, and devoted to their families. We tend to be thoughtful dogs who appreciate clear communication, consistency, and knowing what is expected of us. Once we trust someone, we often become incredibly affectionate and dedicated companions.
I'm not looking for a home that expects me to be instantly confident or ready for every situation on day one. I'm looking for people who understand that trust is earned and that a gentle approach can go a long way. In return, you'll get a loyal friend who is eager to learn and ready to build a lasting bond.
If you have experience with large breeds, appreciate a dog with a sensitive side, and are willing to help me grow in confidence, I'd love to meet you.
