Hi! My mom, my littermates and I are currently en route to Austin Pets Alive! from a partner shelter, but not on campus just yet. If you'd like to open your home to us by the time we arrive in Austin in the next few days, please email dog-foster-placement@austinpetsalive.org. Thank you!

The Redbone Coonhound is a versatile and intelligent hunting dog known for its striking red coat and endurance in the field. Bred in the United States, these dogs excel at tracking and treeing game, particularly raccoons. Their melodious bay is distinctive, making them valuable in hunting competitions and search and rescue operations. Redbone Coonhounds are loyal, affectionate companions, but require regular exercise and mental stimulation to thrive in a family setting.

The Rhodesian Ridgeback, originally from Southern Africa, is a breed known for its distinctive ridge of hair along its back that grows in the opposite direction of the rest of its coat. This intelligent and loyal dog is a versatile hunter, originally bred to track and contain lions. With a strong and muscular build, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is also a loving and devoted family companion, displaying affection and protectiveness towards its loved ones.
