Rat Terrier and Chihuahua Dogs Available for Adoption

Coriander is a male black and tan rat terrier or rat/chihuahua or similar mix. Cori was born 2/13/2026 along with his two brothers Chive and Clove to mom Cardi-mom. The puppies eat dry puppy food independently. They will be ready for adoption 4/18/2026 having had 2 puppy vax and four rounds of deworming. Each will be adopted with a contract requiring the adopter to complete his vaccine sequence and have him neutered at 6 months of age.

Cori weighs about 3 lbs as of 4/8/2026. His mom Cardi, 14 lbs, is pictured, and all the potential dads were rat terrier or rat/chihuahua mix or similar, as mom also appears to be.

Cori’s mom was surrendered to a Louisiana shelter and began labor within 24 hrs which proved to have complications, necessitating immediate help from a rescue. After we got mom quick medical intervention, she came away with 3 beautiful tiny boys. Cori is the only black and tan puppy. While all three boys are social and sweet, playful and active, Cori is independent although he is a big admirer of his mom Cardi. He was also a milk hog! Cori has a knack for the side-eye and for holding eye contact.

A completed adoption application and, upon approval, an adoption contract is required. Jeff Tarpley Rescue welcomes applications from homeowners, renters, and condo or apartment dwellers. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet.

We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
