Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization.
MEET PUGGO!
Don't let 3-year-old Puggo aka Sluggo's shy demeaner fool you. Once he gets past his initial fear, Puggo is super affectionate and loves to spend time with all the new friends he makes. Once he selects his inner circle though it is those lucky people who get to see the truly affectionate, playful and cuddly boy he is at heart. Some of Puggo's favorite activities are playing with his toys, chewing on chew bones, and taking walks. He is still working on leash manners, but he is getting better with every step! Once tired out from play, move over and make room on the couch, it is snuggle time!
We aren't sure of Puggo's history. He came to us after being surrendered to the shelter for starting to mark. He is currently healing from his neuter and we suspect that Puggo will continue to improve in the business department with patience and consistency. Based on his timid nature and some anxiety around new places and people, we believe Puggo needs to learn how great it can be to live a true pug life. His new family should be sensitive to Puggo's comfort level when it comes to exploring the world and all it has to offer. Once he gains confidence and settles into a loving home, this boy is going to make some lucky family so happy. He has already come a long way in the short time he has been with us. He used to be very fearful when his foster family arrived home. We think maybe he used to get in trouble for shenanigans he got into when home alone. But now he is much happier when he is greeted with a kind hello and a pat on the head. When he is happy, Puggo likes to roll around on his back and make funny noises!
Puggo has shown some food guarding traits. Just a little growl if you reach for his high value treat. This coupled with his fearful nature will have us seeking a home without young children. He seemed to be sensitive to the chicken-based food he came in on but is doing very well on Carna 4 Goat at present. He is not a big barker but has a voice and is not afraid to use it. Puggo can be a little pushy at first with new canine and feline friends, but he has made fast friends of those in his foster home.
