Are we being "pugged" or what?!
Recently, we've gotten in so many Pugs... and now this! SEVEN Pug mixes! We were contacted by a rescue friend who was contacted by a vet clinic about seven, 4-week-old Pug mix puppies that needed rescue. The mother developed a critical calcium deficiency where she was rushed to the vet twice. The vet ultimately told her the puppies need to be pulled from her and she needs to be spayed (since this was her second litter). We went to the home to pick up the puppies and spoke with the owner. She said as soon as the mother dog's milk dries up, she's going in to be spayed. She didn't want her to go through this again as it truly scared her and she thought she was going to lose her. Sometimes, that's what it takes for someone to understand the importance of spaying and neutering. She was very thankful that we stepped up to help the puppies.
Ok, now to the puppies. The momma dog is a Shih Tzu/ Chihuahua mix. The daddy is a pure-bred Pug. He definitely has some strong genes because all of these puppies look like their poppa! They were born March 12, 2026. Now that they've been pulled from mom, we will vaccinate them in about a week as they are too young right now. We did go ahead and microchip them all and started the deworming process. They are eating really well... wet puppy food mixed with milk replacement and a little Nutrical to top it off. They are fat, fat, fat. Momma definitely took really good care of them, despite it compromising her health.
In a couple of weeks, we'll start taking applications so stay tuned!
NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note... we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
