We are a BEST MATCH facility. We try to match the pet’s personality and needs with the family’s needs and lifestyle to increase the likelihood of a lifetime happy relationship for the whole family. The online application we provide on our website, achs-pets.com, is a preliminary application. We will check the veterinary information of the applicant’s other animals and the landlord permission to have pets if the applicant is a renter. Once we have done this, we will call if everything seems sufficient. Then, a shelter visit and a completed on- site application for any adoption of any animal at our shelter is required in addition to the online application. Our applications provide us with much needed information to ensure that our shelter dogs and cats are going to the best home available for them. Also, we observe the interaction of the prospective adopter with the animal chosen and when possible ask that other family pets are brought to the shelter to be introduced to the new pet as well. After you have completed the application, please give us up to 5 working days to process it. It is often done quicker, however, we ask for your patience. Please also realize that popular pets may receive at least 20 applications. If you do not hear from us in 5 days, this is likely the case. Feel free to call us after 5 days to check on the status of your application. If you are told the pet has been adopted, please understand that your application was probably one of many that came in after a FIRST BEST MATCH was accepted. We try to get back to everyone in a timely manner but occasionally get a little behind especially with popular pets.
