Meet Sabrina, affectionately known in our household as "Teeny Sabrini". This pint-size puppy is sure to melt your heart! Sabrina was found as a stray with injuries to her back legs and hip, but she doesn't let that slow her down.
Exercise
Sabrina loves to move! She enjoys going on walks around the neighborhood, and even the occasional run. Sabrina prefers the comfort of a harness and walks well on a leash. She'll usually average 1-2 miles a day.
House manners
Sabrina is potty trained and crate trained. She lets us know when she needs to go potty by standing at the back door. At bedtime, she's eager to get into her crate and sleeps peacefully through the night without any fuss. She hasn't been destructive in our home - she keeps all chewing focused on her toys. Something to note if you use pet gates: make sure they're high enough... this girl can jump!
Training
Sabrina is a quick learner - it helps that she's very food motivated! She knows the commands for "come", "sit", "lie down", "wait", and "crate". She gets very excited at mealtimes and does a little happy dance when her food is served, but this polite little lady will wait patiently for permission to dig in. Sabrina struggles with separation anxiety and can become agitated when she is separated from her humans. We've been working on Alone Time training, and we're hopeful that this will continue to improve with time and training in her new home.
Play
Sabrina LOVES any and all toys! She can keep herself occupied for long stretches with a fun enrichment toy or her favorite Benebone. She also loves plush toys and will joyfully "deconstruct" them; fortunately, she doesn't ingest anything, she just enjoys the process. She recently learned how to play fetch and can't get enough of it! Sabrina has a high-energy play style and can get a bit nippy when she's excited so just watch your fingers.
Social skills
When we're out walking, Sabrina wants to stop and greet every person and pup that she passes. She's been good around kids, but she sometimes jumps up on people so we recommend caution around small children. She gets along with our resident dog, and had a great time at a recent puppy play date. She loves to play tug-of-war with our dog and can share toys without resource guarding. She hasn't had the opportunity to meet any feline friends yet.
Companionship
This little girl is so affectionate! She's the true definition of a velcro dog: she just wants to be by your side always and will follow you everywhere. She loves to snuggle and will gladly accept pets and belly rubs anytime! When she's tired after a long day, she'll curl up in your lap and snooze, making the cutest little snoring sounds.
Sabrina recently underwent orthopedic surgery to address her hip injury. Her recovery is going well and she's ready to find her forever home! If you're interested in this adorable pup, please reach out to her foster parents at adoptableprincess@gmail.com.
