DESCRIPTION

Meet Joey (ACCT-A-254621)! This resilient boy is impossible not to fall in love with. Despite a rough start where he was found tied to a fence, Joey's spirit shines incredibly brightly. He is a total social butterfly who greets everyone he meets with a happy, friendly personality and a tail that never stops wagging.

Joey is a gentleman on the leash and walks very nicely, making him a great companion for strolls around the neighborhood. He is especially fond of his time outdoors, where he loves to run around the yard and soak up his freedom. He is a sweet, attention-seeking pup who is happy to receive affection from everyone in the room.

While he is currently a bit skinny and looking for someone to help him regain his strength with good meals and plenty of love, his gentle and loving nature is already on full display. Joey deserves a family who will cherish him and show him what it feels like to truly be home. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with so much love to give, Joey is waiting for you!

Behavioral Notes:

07/06/2026 per staff about dog meet:

"Tolerant, good greetings and moved away"

07/06/2026 per staff:

"Kennel Presentation: At the front of his kennel, ears to the side, low tail wags, loose body.

Leash Skills: Tried to push out of kennel. Could not toss treats due to being on a feeding plan and getting surgery. Closed the door and held my leash by the opening when I opened the door and was able to leash. Came right out and walked loose leash, ears to the side, low tail, loose body. Paused at the door to leave the building, wide eyes, ears back, would not come forward for baby talk and pulled back on the leash with leash pressure. There was a large puddle at that door, we walked to a different door with loose body, ears back, low loose tail. Walked right through the other door with no puddle with the same body language.

Sociability: In the yard, came over to me mid to low tail wags, loose body, ears back. Jumped up gently and tried to mount my leg. Was able to get him off with light leash pressure and took a step back. He sniffed around the yard low loose tail, ears to the side, loose body. Would come over when I called to him with mid tail wags, soft eyes and allowed all handling, leaning to pets with the same loose body language.

Play: Played with a stuffy toy for a few seconds then lost interest.

Dog Interaction: Met Widow, low tail wags, ears back, interested in sniffing. When Widow was play bowing and running around, remained near his handler and sat down.

Return to Kennel: Walked back low loose tail, ears back, soft eyes, loose body. Stopped outside his kennel, low tail, ears back. Attempted to half step in which did not work, needed moderate leash pressure to return. Tried to push out of kennel after, able to remove leash with hand.

Color Level: Blue"

But despite everything he's endured, Joey's spirit shines so brightly. He greets everyone he meets with a happy, friendly personality and is always excited to get outside, where he loves to run around the yard and enjoy his freedom. His tail never stops wagging, and his gentle, loving nature is impossible to miss. Joey deserves so much more than shelter life, he deserves a family who will cherish him, help him regain his strength, and show him what it feels like to truly be home.
