DESCRIPTION

Meet Lucille Pawll, the Ultimate Survivor! Her scars are just the roadmap of how far she has come. Lucille is a 2 year old hero who has survived a history no dog should ever know. She was found in a wooden breeding box in freezing temperatures along with her 7 puppies but the physical scars on her body tell a story of a much darker past. Lucille was used as a sparring dog in a cruelty ring, forced into a life of trauma where she was never given a choice. Despite being treated as a "breeding machine" and a target for others, Lucille never lost her spirit. She protected her babies with everything she had, even as she carried the weight of her own physical and emotional wounds.
Against all odds, Lucille is Heartworm Negative! She is now UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and gaining weight (currently 46 lbs) and is scheduled to be spayed so her days of being used for profit or breeding are officially over. She is retired, protected, and finally being cared for as an individual.
Lucille is currently in a specialized foster home for behavioral assessment and training. We are working to erase the "survival mode" etched into her brain and helping her find the playful, trusting dog that was hidden under years of trauma. While Lucille heals her own heart, her five tiny survivors remain in critical care. Known as the Hollywood Stars Litter, these pups-Marilyn Mon-Woof, Bark Gable, Ethel Mutts, Jimmy Chew-Art, and Kirk Dog-Las-are very frail and fight every day to survive. They carry the incredible strength of their mother and the memory of their guardian angels, Desi Ar-Nose and Lana Turner-Tail, who watch over them from the wings.
Lucille is looking for a home that understands the heart of a survivor. She needs a patient, trauma-informed environment where she can finally stop looking over her shoulder and start looking forward to her next belly rub.
Lucille has spent her whole life surviving for others-now, she is ready to be the star of her own forever home.

Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.

***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
