Pit Bull Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption

COSTELLO

Pit Bull Terrier
🇺🇸
Montour Falls, New York
March 5th
male, large, senior

DESCRIPTION

Do you have a soft spot for seniors? This sweet boy is thought to be about ten years old. While ten may not be that old, it appears that history may not have been kind to Costello and he may seem to be a little older than his years.
Costello came to us as a stray along with his buddy, Abbott. A younger, more spry fella, Abbott found his forever home quickly. We've been working with Costello to heal the ravages of history and time and have made remarkable progress.

When he first arrived, Costello presented as a two part dog with his chest much stronger than his back legs. X-rays revealed that Costello had a previous leg fracture that was never repaired and thus, didn't heal quite properly. He was also diagnosed with chronic lymes disease which had likely never been addressed either. Following a consultation with Cornell Sports Medicine Department, Costello has been following a series of physical therapy exercises which are helping him to gain strength and mobility in his hind quarters. He is scheduled to start water therapy and soon as a space becomes available, to further improve his mobility.
And, finally he has the issue of a bit of a leaky bladder, which as his mobility improves has also improved, but we are continuing to identify the root cause to determine if medication will help. Other wise, when he's out and about Costello sports a doggie diaper quite dapperly.

We recognize that Costello is not the dog for everyone, but for someone with a bit of patience a quiet home and a huge heart this sweet, grateful guy is sure to make your heart full.
