Meet Sassy, a 2-year-old, 45-lb sweetheart with eyes in completely different zip codes and a personality to match. She’s equal parts cuddle bug and goofball, and once she knows you, she’s all in. Sassy loves snuggles, is potty -rained, and does well in a crate when left alone, a solid foundation for a young dog. When she gets bored, though, she’ll let you know... with a little whining and some extra silliness. Mental and physical enrichment go a long way with this gal. When Sassy is feeling playful, she can be a bit less careful with her mouth - grabbing at hands or clothes instead of toys. She’ll need continued work on redirecting that energy to appropriate chew and play items, but she’s responsive and eager to engage. With people, Sassy generally does well, but she appreciates clear guidance when meeting new folks in her own space. She may bark loudly at first (and also at new or scary sounds), then quickly realize everything is fine and switch gears into enthusiastic greetings, complete with tail wags and jumps. She’s not being rude, she just needs help regulating her excitement. As for other animals: Sassy lived with another dog in the past, though they didn’t always get along. In shelter playgroups, she’s done well and has shown herself to be very sensitive to handler intervention, which is a great sign. Her history with cats is unknown, but while in foster she did bark at and try to get to resident cats, so she’d likely do best with slow, thoughtful introductions or in a cat-free home. Sassy is looking for a home that understands young, enthusiastic dogs and is ready to provide structure, consistency, and affection in equal measure. Give her that, and she’ll repay you with laughs, cuddles, and a whole lot of heart.
