Meet Duckie
This itty bitty pitty has every reason to be guarded — but instead, she chose kindness.
Before being picked up by animal control, Duckie was attacked by another dog. Her ear was torn pretty badly, and we fully prepared ourselves to work through potential dog reactivity. But Duckie had other plans.
She has shown us over and over again that her past does not define her. She is gentle, social, and truly loves other dogs of all sizes. The tiny yappy ones? Patient. The bouncy, clueless ones? Tolerant. She corrects kindly and moves on. It’s honestly incredible to see.
Duckie is 2–3 years old, under 30 pounds, and medium-to-low energy (with the occasional zoomie session to keep things interesting). She’s kennel trained, quiet in the home, and highly food motivated — which makes continued training a breeze.
She’s hard of hearing, but it doesn’t slow her down one bit. She makes the sweetest little piggy grunts and groans, sleeps like she just worked a 12-hour shift, and is a glorified lump on the couch.
Because she loves to give kisses and sometimes adds a little nibble (we’re working on it!), a home with older children would be best.
Duckie is resilient. She is soft. She is quirky. And she is so ready for a home that sees her for who she is — not what she’s been through.
If you’re looking for a low-key, dog-friendly, snuggly little sidekick, Duckie might just be your girl.
