This cute Papillon mix has definitely proven his blindness does not hinder him from enjoying life to its fullest. According to the eye specialist, Lenny has apparently been blind since birth. He is a sweet dog who enjoys cuddling, following his person(s) around, wagging his tail happily and snuggling on the bed or couch. He explores his environment enthusiastically and quickly learns to navigate his surroundings. He can easily navigate stairs after trying them; consistent routines and a safe, predictable environment are required. As easy as it is to coddle a blind dog and treat them as a helpless soul, carrying him around and doing everything for him won’t help him learn to manage his new environment. He is playful with other small dogs and seems to enjoy another small dog’s companionship. Lenny knows basic commands like sit and come but is absolutely not leash trained. He’s intelligent, friendly, energetic, playful and affectionate which makes him an excellent little companion. He would be best suited to an adult home only or possibly a family with older children (no small munchkins) who understand how to handle small dogs gently and respectfully. While in foster care, he has already shown his desire to develop strong bonds with his people, often showing deep loyalty. Inspite of the fact that he was found as a stray - blind and surviving alone in the cold - he has adjusted quite well and sports an amazing, adorable personality. His joyful demeanor is so endearing. Due to his disability, we are seeking adopter(s) who have had experience with a blind dog and who realizes this is a life-time commitment. If you feel you can commit to Lenny, provide the home and love he requires and deserves, email kkcalaska@gmail.com and request an adoption application. ❤️
