Meet Colt & Linda
Bonded Pair — must stay together
Colt and Linda are a devoted bonded pair. After their owner passed away, they were surrendered by family. It is very clear their previous owner cared for them deeply given Colt's age, and both being incredibly healthy, groomed, and well kept. Both need time in a new home to bond to their new people and surroundings. They both love adventures, pets, and cuddles.
Colt (11 years old, ~45 lbs) is a Norwegian Elkhound / spitz-type mix gentleman with shepherd breed charm. He thinks he is 5, and we'd believe him if we didn't know his age. Colt is very responsive to engagement — you can definitely teach this older pup new tricks. A longer body and short legs, he is a bit shorter than Linda.
Linda (3 years old, ~45 lbs) is a fun cattle-dog mix with youthful energy and a loving heart. She loves meeting new people and makes herself look like a puppy.
Together, they make a balanced, affectionate duo who are happiest when they know where the other is. They are fine being separated for training sessions but love being reunited.
Colt & Linda:
– Bonded pair and must be adopted together
– House trained
– Friendly, affectionate, and people-oriented, but independent if left alone - repeated, consistent engagement is important with them!
– Kid-friendly
– Dog-friendly
– Very attached to each other and emotionally supportive as a pair
– Typical northern breed traits, including being vocal, “singing,” and having escape tendencies with low, climbable, or unsecured fencing
- Both non-reactive on leash and working on loose-leash walking (they already get lots of compliments when walked separately or together)
- both of them like playing in streams and ponds quite a bit
Important notes for their safety and success:
– No cats or small animals
– Very tall, secure, non-climbable fencing required, or leash-only exercise until a bond is developed/recall training. Both have been doing really well learning this language and will thrive in a home that continues to build on that.
Colt and Linda do best with routine/regular adventures, companionship, and an understanding that they need engagement and time to build a bond with someone new.
Want to meet them? They’ll win you over quickly. They bring warmth, loyalty, and personality into a home and are looking for someone willing to keep them safe, together, and loved.
As with all of our dogs, their adoption includes group training classes, which help reinforce safety, strengthen their bond with their people, and support a smooth transition into their new home.
