Beautiful and smiley Greta originally came to us last December along with her sister, Gale, all the way from Puerto Rico. These girls are known as "Satos," which is the Puerto Rican term for the estimated 650,000 street dogs on the island. Rescues based down there take them off the streets and get them medically vetted and ready to fly to cities like Chicago, where rescues like ours take them in to be adopted.
Greta was adopted a week before Christmas and sadly returned to us not long ago due to no fault of her own. Her adopters decided to get a third dog recently and they felt Greta was not fitting in any longer, since the other two liked to play rougher. If you watch her videos, you can see Greta likes to play plenty! It's a mystery why anyone would give her up. But, we know one thing for sure: Greta's future is brighter than her past, and we are glad to have her back with us so we can ensure she is adopted into a home that values her as they should.
Because Greta was in an adoptive home with a dog and a cat, we know that she is able to live with both, but could also thrive as the only pet and the apple of her person's eye! Greta's adopters said that she is "perfect" in the crate, and that she is great with kids. While she did not live with any kids, she was around young relatives and "soaked up all the love." Her adopters write, "Greta is an absolute sweetheart of a dog. She makes the perfect couch potato OR adventure buddy. No matter the occasion she thinks that you lack kisses, so expect to always catch a lick if you're within distance!"
We hope you will come and fall in love with our little island girl this week, and give her the happily ever after that she deserves!
Greta's adoption fee is $300. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
