Meet #Simba
All you really need to do… is look at this photo.
Look at the condition he’s in.
Look at the exhaustion written all over him.
When #Simba first came to us, he didn’t bark.
He didn’t pace.
He didn’t react to the chaos of the adoption floor.
While the other dogs were barking and the kennels were loud, we would get to Simba’s kennel , and he would be sound asleep.
We let him sleep.
We would let him out last because he was just so tired. And when he did wake up, he’d be waiting at the front of the kennel letting us know, head outside, potty like a good boy, and quietly go about his business.
For most dogs, ending up in a shelter isn’t their lucky day.
For Simba… it was.
His lucky day was the day he finally had:
• Regular meals
• A warm place to lay his head
• People who let him rest
• Safety
We did try moving him to a quieter bathroom area to give him some peace away from the noise , and he let us know real quick he did NOT want that. He didn’t want to be alone. He wanted to be where the people were. He feels more secure in the “general population,” as we call it.
That tells us a lot.
We do believe Simba may struggle with some separation anxiety. He doesn’t like being isolated. He wants comfort. He wants presence. He wants to know he’s not being left again.
He doesn’t seem to mind the other dogs here, and we are still getting to know him more each day as he decompresses. But what we know already? He is a sweet, gentle soul who is finally catching up on the rest he probably hasn’t had in a very long time.
We are asking for no small children at this time. We don’t know his history, and we want to set him up for success in a quiet, healing home where he can continue to feel safe.
