DESCRIPTION

Meet Hera — A Snuggle Champion with a Big Heart and a Brave Story
Do you have a soft spot for snuggles, silly sploots, and loyal lovebugs? Meet Hera, a beautiful, deeply loving 3-year-old, 47lb pittie lady whose favorite things include gentle belly rubs, long back scratches, and being close to her people.

She will gaze lovingly into your eyes while you pet her — and if you stop too soon, she’ll happily remind you with a paw tap that she’s not done yet. She’s also an award-worthy sploot-er, enjoys carrying stuffies around to “show them off,” and will give kisses on request without overwhelming you when you’re not in the mood.

Inside the home, Hera is calm, polite, and well-mannered. She’s fully potty and crate trained, sleeps well through the night, naps during the day, and doesn’t beg for food. She respects boundaries, waits to be invited onto furniture, and takes treats gently when calm. She’s smart and eager to learn, already knowing “sit,” “paw,” “come,” "lie down," and "leave it," and happily working on new tricks.

She tolerates routine care beautifully — medications wrapped in cream cheese are happily gobbled and baths are no problem with treats or a lick mat to keep things fun. She happily eats twice a day, plus treats, and enjoys fruits like apples and pears as an extra-special snack.

A loving dog who’s made real progress — and needs it continued
Hera had a rough start in life and is still healing and learning to navigate the outside world. With consistent training, structure, and medication, she has made significant progress and continues to become more confident and regulated. That support will need to be maintained and thoughtfully managed by her adopter(s).

She can become over-aroused in high-stimulation situations, which can cause strong leash pulling, jumping, or nipping (not from aggression, but from overwhelm). Because of this, she needs:

An adult-only home (experienced teen-aged children at least).

An experienced, confident handler who can manage her strength on leash.

Gentle, predictable handling and respect for her boundaries

She may snap if pushed too far beyond her comfort zone (though she immediately feels bad and apologizes), so she needs adopters who are attentive, gentle, and committed to continuing her progress. When being touched unexpectedly from behind, she can briefly flinch but quickly relaxes and happily enjoys affection once she realizes you’re being gentle — a small reminder of how far she’s come and how much she wants to fully trust.

Hera is a dog who truly means well. She wants to listen, wants to connect, and wants to love. In a calm, patient home that understands her needs and continues the care that’s helping her thrive, she will reward her people with endless affection, devotion, and sweetness, easily becoming the love of your life.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
