Wilson - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Meet Wilson (ACCT-A-257230)! This incredibly sweet fellow is ready to find a forever home where he can share all the love he has to give. Wilson is the definition of a "people dog"-from the moment you meet him, he'll likely greet you with a loose, wiggly body and soft, soulful eyes. He's a champion snuggler who loves to lean right into your legs to make sure he's getting as much attention as possible.

Wilson is a total gentleman when it comes to his walks. He is very easy to handle and walks beautifully on a loose leash, making him a great companion for strolls around the neighborhood. In social settings, Wilson has done well in playgroups. He communicates clearly with other dogs and is easily redirected by his human friends. Whether he's showing off his gentle "sit" for a photo shoot or leaning in for a chin scratch, Wilson's affectionate personality shines through.

Wilson was previously adopted from ACCT Philly in August, after arriving to the shelter significantly underweight; his adoptive family did an excellent job helping him regain the weight he so desperately needed, and we're happy to say he is now at a healthy 45 pounds! Wilson's adopters ultimately returned to the shelter due to some health concerns they noticed with him, which are pending further evaluation at this time, so check back soon for more info!

Behavioral Notes

08/02/2026 per staff behavioral eval:
Kennel Presentation: At the front of his kennel, front paws on the door, soft eyes, ears back, loose body, low tail wags. No treats offered due to being on a feeding plan.

Leash Skills: Tried to push out of kennel once then backed up and was leashed. Came right out and walked loose leash with a low loose tail, ears back, loose body.

Sociability: Comes over when called and allowed all handling with a loose body, ears back, soft eyes, low loose tail, leaning slightly into me. Remained next to me slightly leaning in for a few seconds when I stopped. Tried to jump up on me a few times gently with the same body language, stopped and sniffed around when I took a step back.

Play: n/a

Dog Interaction: Met Ozzy, ears back, high tail wags, shoulder hackles slightly raised at the fence, moved away on his own. Face to face, sniffed and was sniffed high tail, ears back, hackles raised. Easily redirected by calling to him, would come to me with loose body, loose mid level wags, soft eyes.

Return to Kennel: Walked back loose leash with the same body language as walking out. Stopped outside his kennel and tried to go under. Called to him and he stopped, did not go in for a half step, needed leash pressure to return. Once in kennel turned around and tried to exit once before backing up and leash was able to be removed by hand.

Hackles raised at fence greeting with a high tail wag. In the yard, slow high wag when being greeted. Made an appropriate vocal correction when Beauty became too pushy.

Extremely sweet! Immediately greeted me with loose wiggly body, soft eyes. Leaned into me and elicited attention. Tolerated all handling and exam.
