DESCRIPTION

Meet sweet Theodore! He came to ACCT on 4/12 as a stray, and is estimated to be about 4 years old. Theodore is looking for a forever home that will provide him with lots of snuggles, treats, and playtime-he especially loves playing fetch. Theodore has had a good dog meet here, and we are also seeing his adorably goofy personality more every day!

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Theodore, fill out an application or come in to meet him today!

Behavior Notes :

Per volunteer 4/25: Theodore is a fun loving dog who wants to play fetch and tug of war with his humans. He will take a play break for cheek and butt scratches and knows sit and paw. He is easy on leash and a very nice boy.

4/23 Per staff behavioral eval
Kennel Presentation: Laying down on his bed when I approached. Called to him in a baby voice, he got up, did a stretch and came to the front with soft eyes, loose body, ears back, mid to low tail wags. Took a treat very gently through the bars.

Leash Skills: Easy to leash, stayed still at the door while I leashed him. Once leashed came right out and pulled mildly on leash. Walked through the kennels with ears back, lose body, relaxed tail, soft eyes. Tried to go up to everyone we passed.

Sociability: Allows all handling and leaned into pets with soft eyes, ears back, loose body, mid loose tail wags. Loved butt scratch's and leaned in with his full body weight when getting them. Took treats very gently outside.

Play: n/a

Dog Interaction: Met Champ, loose body, ears back, engaged in some play. Started to get a little humpy and Champ would move out of it. Took good play pauses and disengaged on his own.

Return to Kennel: Pulled moderately walking back through the kennels, same body language as walking out. Hopped right into his kennel and leash was removed easily.

Color Level: Gold

Per Day Trip 4/16 : "It was very difficult for me to bring Theodore back yesterday. He was such a joy, for me, and for everyone that met him he is amazing at playing fetch and honestly seemed like he could do that all day. He knew to drop the ball, how to sit."

Per Staff 4/14 : "Took Theodore out for dog meet, walked up to the front of the kennel then backed up a bit when I went to put leash over head, moved slowly and once leash was on, he walked out with me but was a little hesitant. When I opened door to outside he flinched and moved backwards a bit, but then walked forward. Once outside he shook off and had loose body language. After the meet I pet him a bit, and he would wiggle his body and lean into me for more. I saw more of his goofy personality after the dog meet. Flinched at door again on the way back in, but went back into kennel with no issue."

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
