DESCRIPTION

Meet Pear ACCT-A-236840! Pear is a 2-year-old female who originally came in as a stray on 11/9. Pear was adopted shortly after arriving and was unfortunately returned a few days later due to Pear being destructive in the home.

Behavior Notes:

Per staff 11/19: "Attempted with her PCRS but did not want to come out of kennel or take any treats from out our hand or if we dropped it, nor did she let either of us get close to her so we decided to not proceed due to her seeming to be over stressed & whale eyeing us."

Per staff 11/18: "making dog blue from gold as she has begun leash biting - will not release for food, use rope toys (which sometimes work)"

Per adopter 11/16: "She has caused destruction in my apartment. Destructive she has bad behavior. She is house broken and high energy. She does no like walking on leash."

Per staff 11/11: "Kennel Presentation: Sleeping on the bed when I approached the kennel. She got up and came to the kennel door with soft eyes , ears forward and body neutral. As I was reaching for the kennel door she did bark like um hurry up please.
Leash Skills: Easy to leash. Walked through the kennel hyper vigilant. Body lower, ears forward and tail down. There were customers at the SB near Volunteer room and the mop buckets line the wall. She stopped and back up on the leash. Used a treat to continue walking.
Sociability: Semi social. Outside she was more interested in sniffing around the x pen. We then went inside to the eval room, it took a few moments before she let me do some handling. she stood still while I was petting and when I stopped she did not move away but did not ask for more.
Play: She loved the plush squeaky toy, was throwing it up in the air and nibbling on it. I would toss the toy and she would go get the toy and play on her own.
Dog Interaction: Sniffed Marlow through the fence and then barked at him.
Return to Kennel: Coming out of the eval room she was spooked by the door. She pulled mildly and then started to lightly leash bite on the way back to her kennel. I was able to redirect her with a treat. She went right in to her kennel without issue.
Color Level: Exp Gold"

Per police 11/9: "Friendly"

Medical Notes:

Per an exam on 11/19: "Recheck spay revision site and general health/comfort
Objective:
-BAR
-Spay incision is healing well, and e-collar is in place
-Watery nasal discharge, mildly congested
Assessment:
-Shelter acquired CIRDC"

Per an exam on 11/17:
-Upon reintake into shelter, was noted to have ~2 inches of red tissue hanging out of spay incision
Objective:
-Spay site dehiscence with herniation of omentum through the incision site that had walled off into a ball of tissue. No intestinal tissue or other abdominal contents herniated. Omentum that had herniated did have adhesions to subcutaneous tissue and body wall. Body wall, subcutaneous tissue and skin were all severely inflamed and highly vascularized.
Assessment:
-Spay site dehiscence with herniation of omentum
Plan:
-Surgical debridement was performed, exposed tissue thoroughly lavaged and spay site was closed again.
-Placed ecollar to prevent patient from self-traumatizing the area."

Per an exam on 11/9: Other than missing fur at the base of her tail, Pear was found to be in good general health.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
