Gingersnap - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Gingersnap is a young female mixed breed who was brought to the shelter as a stray after reportedly roaming a neighborhood overnight before settling on a caller's porch. Since arriving, she has shown herself to be a soft, submissive girl who is very people-oriented and eager for reassurance from her handlers. She walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently, and prefers staying close to her person while exploring the yard.

Behavioral Notes

05/25/2026 Per volunteer Behavioral eval:
Kennel presentation:
When I approached her kennel she was barking and whining. I opened the door and she instantly laid down. I leashed her while she was laying and she came right out.

Leash Skills:
She walks great on leash and stuck right by my side.

Sociability:
She is very submissive and remains low to the ground. She seems to be very handler-oriented and would follow me around the play yard, soliciting attention. She allowed me to pet her all over and leaned in. She was a bit jumpy. When people walked by the yard, she'd bark. She takes treats very gently.

Play & Toys:
I threw a ball a few times and she went after it once and dropped it at my feet and did not take possession.

Dog interaction (must be on video if meeting face-to-face):
Had an okay meet with Molly Polly. She remained more interested in handlers. Video will be sent in by staff.

Returning to kennel: Went right back in.

Color level: Gold

Loose body, mid to high tail wags, ears back, tolerated being sniffed, moved away on her own, handler oriented.
