DESCRIPTION
Behavior notes:
Per volunteer 4/27:
Gello made eye contact with me several times- he has a gorgeous big head and eyes- and was whining and barking as I approached, so we went for his first ACCT walk. Gello was easy to leash & he trotted outside pulling pretty hard so I switched to harness style once outside. Gello peed many times and sniffed the yard & peed some more.
While on our short walk, Gello still pulled on leash & was very observant of his surroundings as we walked. He turned his head to watch dogs and people but did not pull toward them.
While in the large run, Gello was loose and relaxed when petted on his back, butt and head. He did not pursue toys. He walked with me in the run and continued to sniff. He took treats very nicely.
Gello trotted back inside the shelter under control. He stepped into the kennel on his own initially but then came back out when he saw another dog in the aisle. I walked him up and back several times to confuse him and after 4-5 of those, I stepped into the kennel with one foot and he came inside with a tug. Gello had many noticeable sores on his nose and paws & lots of poop on his tail. Definitely, a dog bath candidate for the future.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
