Meet SaraBell (Graphic Images)
Last night in Lanett, this broken little soul showed up at a friend's home... quietly begging for help.
She was defeated.
Skinny.
Dehydrated.
Starving.
Covered in painful wounds.
But this morning, when she saw someone coming back for her - her eyes lit up. Her whole body softened. It was as if she knew... this is my chance.
We don't know where she came from.
We don't know who failed her.
But we do know this - she still chooses love.
When NHR arrived to pick her up, she ran straight toward us, tail trying its best to wag, covering us in kisses. After everything she's endured, she trusted us immediately. That kind of resilience is something you can't teach - it's pure heart.
Her injuries are severe.
Her tail appears to have been degloved. Whether she was caught in something or attacked, we may never know. She has puncture wounds across her neck and face, and her ear is torn and painful.
And yet... when we asked her to load into the van, she hopped right up and laid down like the brave girl she is.
We rushed her to Animal Care Center, where she walked in like she knew she was finally safe.
What we know so far:
Strong heartworm positive
Intestinal parasites
Currently in heat
Tomorrow, SaraBell will undergo surgery to amputate her tail. While she's under anesthesia, she will also be spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested, dewormed, given a rabies vaccine, microchipped - everything she needs to start fresh.
She is going to feel so much better. She deserves that chance.
But this will be a large medical expense.
SaraBell begged for help... and we promised her she would never be turned away again.
Every dollar helps ease her pain. Every share helps her story reach someone who cares.
And once she has healed from surgery, SaraBell will need a loving foster home to continue her recovery.
She chose to ask for help.
Now we're choosing to fight for her.
Let's show her that the world can be kind.
