Meet Sterling!
Sterling came to ACC as a stray with no known history. In the shelter, he's shown himself to be a gentle, thoughtful dog who can be sweet and social once he feels safe. He enjoys treats, knows how to sit, and often checks in with his handler on walks. Busy or unfamiliar situations can make him uneasy, especially during transitions like returning indoors, but with patience and encouragement he's able to move forward and settle.

My Ideal Home
Sterling would thrive in a calm, adult-only home with a predictable routine and patient adopters who are comfortable going at his pace. A quieter environment and positive, reward-based training will help him build confidence, especially around transitions and new situations.

Good with Other Pets?
Sterling has shown mild dog interest. He may stare and become tense at times but has been redirectable with treats and guidance. Slow, thoughtful introductions are important.

Leash Manners
Sterling's leash skills are generally mild and manageable. He may pull a bit at first but often settles into the walk, checks in with his handler, and responds well to treats. He can hesitate or baulk when returning indoors, so a patient approach and treat trail are helpful during transitions.

Sterling knows "sit," takes treats gently, and loves frequent check-ins with his handler. With time, consistency, and a calm home, he has all the potential to blossom into a loyal and devoted companion.

A staff member writes: Sterling is a big, handsome white and grey senior pittie, but underneath that solid build is the softest, sweetest soul. He's calm, gentle, and incredibly easy to be around-happy to walk beside you, happy to hang out, happiest when he's close enough to lean on you or curl up for a cuddle. While he may look like a tank, he's actually made of marshmallows and pure love. He moves through life gently, politely, and with one simple goal: be as close to you as possible (ok, two goals... the second is to get as many treats from you as possible). Tennis balls make him light up like a puppy again, but once playtime is over, Sterling is right back to his favorite role - professional couch potato and nap partner.
