Mixed Breed Dogs Available for Adoption

SKYY

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Milton, Delaware
February 25th
female, small, baby

DESCRIPTION

Dog Name: Skyy

Breed: Mixed

Sex: Female

Age: DOB 1/3/26

Weight: currently 8 lbs and gaining

Medical Needs: Remainder of puppy shots, and rabies once old enough. Must be spayed/neutered by the end July 2026. The appointment is included in the adoption fee at one of the clinics we use, and the foster-to-adopt family will need to email GRR to request the appointment when puppy is 18-20 weeks at the clinic closest to them. (Options are Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Georgetown.) Keeping the appointment that's assigned by the clinic will be a condition of adoption. Foster to adopt families must live within 1 hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment.

Housebroken: nope, she's just a baby. BUT she does head to a pee pad to do her business, and is very smart so learning to go outside shouldn't take long.

Crate trained: she is currently in a puppy pen with her siblings at night

Good in the car: she's just a baby and sits in your lap the entire time

Good on a leash: she's doesn't really understand what a leash is for, but will follow her person anywhere so she gets the point

Energy level: currently medium/puppy level

Need a fenced in yard: not yet. She will most likely be a medium-large sized dog so a yard is always helpful, but not a need.

Dog Friendly: yes

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No

Cat Friendly: yes, but a little intimidated because they're bigger than her.

Kid Friendly: yes

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any kid that understands that puppy teeth are sharp

Traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Skyy is the life of the party! She is the first to run to foster mom, trying to jump over the puppy pen to get to her (or maybe the food she has). Skyy loves to wrestle with her siblings, or play tug with the blankets. She might be energetic, but when it's time to settle down she cuddles just as hard as she plays and loves curling up in foster mom's lap.

Fosters Location: Dover, DE

Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app)

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
