Weight: currently 8lbs and gaining

Medical Needs: Remainder of puppy shots, and rabies once old enough. Must be spayed/neutered by the end July 2026. The appointment is included in the adoption fee at one of the clinics we use, and the foster-to-adopt family will need to email GRR to request the appointment when puppy is 18-20 weeks at the clinic closest to them. (Options are Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Georgetown.) Keeping the appointment that's assigned by the clinic will be a condition of adoption. Foster to adopt families must live within 1 hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment.

Housebroken: No. He is still a baby.

Crate trained: Yes, he cries for a few minutes but then sleeps nicely in there.

Good in the car: Yes, sits in your lap.

Good on a leash: Has not been leashed yet.

Energy level: Medium energy puppy. He loves to sit in laps more than anything. He sleeps, eats and plays on repeat.

Need a fenced in yard: No. He will most likely be a medium sized dog.

Dog Friendly: Yes, however he has to learn to trust because he is the runt and was bullied by his littermates.

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No

Cat Friendly: Unknown.

Kid Friendly: Yes.

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any kid that understands that puppy teeth are sharp.

Traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Basil Hayden is a shy, sensitive, little puppy. He was bullied by his litter and is afraid of his own shadow. He is such a sweet boy when he feels safe. He doesn't love to be held but he likes to sit right in your lap and will fall asleep. Being Basil's owner will be so rewarding. He will appreciate the love and comfort of his own family!
