Velma is a 2-year-old, petite 53-pound girl who is impressively well-rounded for such a young dog. She is both crate trained and housetrained, making her an easy addition to a home ready to enjoy her playful, affectionate personality.
Velma loves to play and truly enjoys her toys, though she would do best with tougher options since she likes to chew the softer ones apart. When playtime is over, cuddling becomes her top priority. She absolutely loves being close to her people and prefers to be right on you, making her an ideal match for a home that welcomes dogs on the couch. Disclaimer: she snores!
She would benefit from a backyard where she can romp and play, but she would also be happy with daily walks and interactive time. After a walk, play session, or training activity, Velma settles beautifully and spends the rest of the day relaxing, cuddling, and soaking up attention. She also rides great in the car and would make a wonderful adventure or travel buddy. Given her confidence and people-focused nature, she is expected to do very well in public settings.
Velma is very smart and highly treat motivated, taking treats ever so gently. She already knows "sit" and "down," has nearly mastered "wait," and cruises through food puzzles with ease. On leash, she can pull strongly at times. While manageable, she would benefit from continued leash training to polish her walking skills.
She is easy to handle and happily tolerates dog sweaters or clothing. When she gets overly excited, she may occasionally jump up, but she responds very well to "off." She can also become a bit mouthy without pressure when excited, though she is easily redirected with "eh eh". Around the house, Velma enjoys being involved and especially likes to supervise cooking from a close (but hopeful) distance.
Velma is expected to do well in a home with older children. She does great with other dogs and absolutely loves to play, though she can come on strong at first, so she would be happiest with a dog that enjoys an enthusiastic playmate. Velma is a smart, affectionate, playful companion who is ready to bring fun, adventure, and plenty of snuggles to her future home.
As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
