Riley came to us all the way from Cancun, Mexico, where she was found as a puppy battling distemper and severe malnutrition. Against all odds, she survived. The illness left her with a limp and a gentle, rhythmic twitch, like the ticking of a clock. It’s simply part of who she is now. She is not in pain, requires no special medical care, and lives a full, joyful life. If anything, it’s a quiet reminder of just how strong and extraordinary she truly is.

Riley is the embodiment of resilience and the power of love. And she has so much love to give. She absolutely adores people and greets new friends with belly-up enthusiasm, face kisses, and the cutest jumping hugs. She’s affectionate, expressive, and so full of life.

This girl is always ready for an adventure. She loves playing with other dogs, going for walks, riding in the car, and then curling up for snuggles on the couch or in bed. She’s perfectly house trained, walks beautifully on a leash, is great with all animals, and is very treat motivated. Truly, Riley is the total package.

For years, Riley was overlooked in Mexico because of her “disability.” But we don’t see it that way. Not even close. What others saw as a flaw, we see as a testament to her strength, her survival, and what makes her so incredibly special.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet / the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Riley Safari's adoption fee is $250, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
