Meet Asher!
This handsome boy has waited far too long and is more than ready to find his forever family. Asher is around six months old and currently weighs approximately 30–35 pounds. We aren’t exactly sure how big he will be when he’s fully grown, but we anticipate he will remain on the medium side, likely under 50 pounds. Without a DNA test, we cannot confirm his breed, though he appears to be some sort of terrier mix. As with all of our dogs, breed labels are simply educated guesses based on appearance and shelter records — we encourage adopters to focus on his personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than a specific breed mix.
We do not know much about Asher’s early life, but we do know that he has spent the majority of it growing up in a shelter environment since November. He would love nothing more than to finally experience the comfort and stability of a real home. Despite the uncertainty of his past, Asher has proven himself to be resilient, affectionate, and full of playful puppy energy. Like most young dogs, he is still figuring out the world around him, but his curiosity, eagerness to learn, and loving spirit shine through every single day.
He is still working on the basics such as house training, leash manners, and polite greetings, so his future family should be prepared for typical puppy antics and the consistency that comes with raising a young dog. With patience, structure, and ongoing training, Asher will blossom into a devoted and well-mannered companion.
The shelter describes him as a true social butterfly. He is dog-friendly, loves people, and — wait for it — he walks great on a leash. He genuinely enjoys being around others and thrives on interaction and playtime.
Asher would do best with a family that can provide structure, patience, and plenty of physical and mental enrichment. A fenced yard would be wonderful for his zoomies and exploration, but his size and adaptability could also make him a potential fit for apartment or condo living, provided he receives sufficient exercise and stimulation. He will benefit most from adopters who are committed to continuing his training and helping him grow into a confident, happy adult dog.
The shelter Ike is currently in is severely overcrowded, and without a confirmed adopter, dogs like him face uncertain futures. Ike is ready for a family to see his potential and give him the life he deserves.
Health:
Asher is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. He is still too young for heartworm testing, but otherwise he is healthy, playful, and ready to join his forever family.
Important Info:
All of our dogs, including Asher, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to adopters once their adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee. Please note that potential adopters will not be able to meet him in person prior to committing to adoption, as transport occurs after finalization.
