DERPY TOT

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Detroit, Michigan
March 17th
male, large, young

DESCRIPTION

Derpy Tot A182946
62 lb. neutered male, approx 1 1/2 years old

-This big puppy is still figuring out the world and will need a patient adopter to help him build confidence. He was a little unsure about the leash at first and needed some encouragement to get going, and the windy weather outside wasn't his favorite. When something blew by nearby, he decided the safest option was to "pancake" for a moment until he was reassured that everything was okay.

-Once back inside, he was a bit hesitant at the photo room door but, with a little encouragement, he walked in and began exploring. As he settled in, his playful puppy side started to shine through. He enjoyed checking out toys and happily engaged in a game of tug.

-He's treat motivated, already knows "sit", and takes treats nicely, which will make training a fun and rewarding experience. When I got down on the floor with him, he became wiggly and excited, eventually rolling over for belly rubs.

-He seems like a big, slightly under-socialized puppy who just needs more life experience and gentle guidance to help him grow into his best self. With patience, encouragement, and a loving home, this good boy has all the ingredients to blossom into a wonderful companion.

-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids

*Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

*Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.

*Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

*There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

*To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.

**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

*The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
