Josie is a female dog who presented bright, alert, and responsive (BAR) but has been diagnosed with uveitis and glaucoma, both of which are painful eye conditions that can significantly affect vision and eye health. These conditions require prompt and ongoing medical treatment to control inflammation, reduce eye pressure, and prevent further damage or vision loss. In some cases, specialized ophthalmologic care may also be necessary.
Managing these conditions often requires frequent monitoring, specialized medications, and possible evaluation by a veterinary ophthalmologist. This level of care and follow-up exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite her condition, Josie is doing her best while receiving supportive care.
Josie needs a safe, compassionate placement where she can receive continued veterinary treatment and appropriate monitoring to manage her eye conditions and maintain her comfort and quality of life. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter. If you are interested in helping, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov
