Meet Bruiser - A Gentle Soul Ready for a Peaceful Home

Bruiser is a sweet, lovable dog whose need for rehoming is due to the loss of his human family, not because of any behavior or care concerns. He came from a loving home with a large yard and is now settling into foster care, where his calm, affectionate nature is easy to see.

Bruiser has a gentle demeanor and a deep appreciation for comfort. He loves finding a soft spot to curl up and is happiest relaxing near his people. He loves to sunbathe! He'll spend hours laying outside in the sun, quietly soaking up the vitamin D. He also loves to listen to the rain. He likes to sit out on the porch and watch the rain on a stormy day and even take a slow ramble around the yard to feel the raindrops on his face. While he still has some verve and playful moments, he is mostly a "chill dude" looking to share quiet time and companionship.

Bruiser currently lives with one other dog, whom he tolerates, but he has not been observed with unfamiliar dogs. He has not had prior experience with children. He is not cat friendly. Bruiser would likely thrive as an only dog in a peaceful, low-key home where he can truly relax and focus on human companionship. While he didn't receive much formal training on commands in his previous home, Bruiser is very smart and motivated by both food and toys. He is already making progress on impulse control commands in foster care, has demonstrated that he enjoys walking on the leash, and would continue to learn with gentle guidance and consistency.

Bruiser is a strong chewer and does best with durable toys and appropriate chew treats, but he has not shown any destructive behavior toward household items. When left alone during the workday in his foster home, he simply sleeps, showing how well-mannered and easygoing he is. Since being in his foster home, he has also been crate trained. He happily goes into the crate and will stay there calmly for hours. He sleeps overnight in the crate without a peep.

Bruiser is looking for a calm, loving home where he can enjoy comfort, routine, and plenty of cozy companionship.
