Meet Biggs!
Biggs was found abandoned with three other dogs and is now looking for a fresh start with a family who will help him settle into the good life he deserves. He's social, people oriented, and has a big personality that comes out once he feels comfortable.
My Ideal Home
Biggs would do best with an adopter who can provide structure, enrichment, and positive reinforcement training to help guide his enthusiasm. He enjoys attention and engagement from people and will thrive with daily physical and mental exercise like walks, puzzle toys, and interactive play. A home that can continue working on leash manners and impulse control will help him really shine.
Good with Other Pets?
Biggs has shown some interest in other dogs at the care center, but also tends to pull strongly toward smaller dogs on leash. His history with other animals is unknown, so slow, controlled introductions would be important if living with another pet.
Good with Kids?
Due to potential resource guarding tendencies and his strength and enthusiasm, Biggs is recommended for a home without young children at this time.
Things to Know
Biggs is a social and affectionate boy who enjoys being around people and seeks out attention readily. He can be strong on leash and may redirect his energy toward other dogs or exciting stimuli, so he'll do best with continued training and management. He has shown possible interest in guarding valued items, so ongoing trade up games and positive reinforcement around handling and resources will be important. With consistency and structure, Biggs has all the makings of a loyal, fun, and engaging companion.
Volunteer Notes
A volunteer writes: Biggs is giving main character energy from the moment you meet him. He's a social, handsome guy who leans in for attention and happily accepts treats like he's starring in his own feel good rom com. Out in the yard, he's engaged and people focused, soaking up interaction and showing off his affectionate side. You might say he's looking for someone to be his "Mr. Biggs," the steady presence who matches his charm, guides his enthusiasm, and takes him on all the best adventures the city has to offer. With the right home, this boy is ready for his happily ever after.
Fun Fact
Biggs is the kind of dog who believes every walk should come with a little drama, a lot of heart, and maybe a snack break on a park bench.
My foster writes: Biggs is a kind-hearted, affectionate boy who lives for the simple pleasures in life: hugs, Hellos and hang-outs.
He's so readily eager & keen to make new friends that he feels instantly familiar and bonds quickly making you feel like you've known each other a long time!
He has a wise, calming and loving head on his shoulders too and he'll suit & thrive in a home that wants to bypass the chaos of a young dog and wants to have a steady readymade best boy around.
This happened to be my most low maintenance weekend foster: Biggs didn't demand anything or need any special attention; he was comfortable immediately & made himself at home without any drama! No accidents, slept in his own bed at night and wandered around at his own pace. Ultra polite to be around and doesn't bother you for food while you're eating and takes treats very gently when you do offer them - although he is not treat motivated and has his favourites. Funnily enough one of his favourite snacks are ice cubes - simple pleasures for a simple guy. He is a bit of a shadow dog too, silently following you on chores. All he really wants is to be near his people and be by your side on the sofa - he's a pillow fort fanatic and 65Ib small spoon!
Warning: he will steal a kiss and your pillow! He licks your nose on first greeting and will always make his way to your side of the sofa!
Biggs is very easy on leash, consistent and even paced; he rarely walked fully ahead of me and was mostly on a loose leash.
He managed the L- train on a Friday night with aplomb even navigating a station change, turnstiles and multiple flights of stairs. He primarily lay down on the subway, so definitely a city boy.
Meeting new people was his idea of a treat and was always open to petting & greetings; although he might jump up to lick a face or two!
Chasing squirrels or birds did not seem to be his thing at all but slow intros to new dogs is for the best.
He'll catch a bouncing tennis ball too but not necessarily bring it back! Same with tug of war, he'll play the game but once he has the chew toy he's gone!
Biggs would be a perfect fit for someone who wants the comforting presence of having a dog in their home; he's a readymade loving house dog waiting to be there for you as your cuddly companion. He gives off an air of quiet dedication and on his short break was just happy to have some attention and have a person for a little while.
