Good with dogs, cats, and dog-savvy children aged 6+

Additional Details:
- A lump on her neck but there is currently no indication of pain, continued inflammation or any other symptoms – confirmed by a vet in Ontario
- Prominent iliac wing over her right hip which is due to a previous injury. It is associated with muscle atrophy (loss of muscle mass) surrounding the hip joint.

Meet Marlene, the total package!

Marlene is affectionate, smart, playful, and incredibly loyal. She bonds deeply with her people and loves to be close, happily curling right into you for cozy cuddles once she feels safe.

She is a high energy girl who truly loves hikes and should have these incorporated into her regular routine, along with safe opportunities to run. She needs consistent physical exercise and mental enrichment to feel her best. Playtime with her tiny stuffie is one of her favourite activities — she tosses it in the air with pride and then looks at you as if waiting for applause. She also gets the cutest zoomies when she’s excited — a reminder of just how energetic and fun-loving she is!

She’s toy and treat motivated (though she politely declines beef liver) and already knows sit, while learning stay, down, spin, come, and “this way.” She’s bright, highly trainable, and will flourish with continued guidance and enrichment.

Marlene can be sensitive to loud noises, busy areas, and unfamiliar men at first. She will need a patient, gentle family who allows her world to expand gradually. In a quieter home with a steady routine, her sweet and playful personality truly shines. She would do best with a confident, stable dog sibling as Marlene absolutely loves other dogs and feels safest with one by her side. Her ideal companion would be calm, tolerant, and gentle in play — not possessive over toys and understanding if she occasionally forgets about personal space. She plays beautifully with dogs of all sizes and even prefers to sleep next to a furry friend.
