Mixed Breed, Terrier
🇺🇸

DESCRIPTION

Mia is a 6-year-old, spayed Terrier mix with a sweet heart and a playful, terrier-style personality. She loves attention and playtime—and when she’s excited, she can get a little mouthy (using her mouth to communicate). The good news is her mouthiness typically decreases significantly once she feels comfortable and has a consistent routine. Because she can be mouthy when excited, Mia is not an ideal match for a home with small children.

Mia is a total foodie—she loves treats and is especially happy to snack on dog-safe fruits and veggies like carrots, celery, broccoli, strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, and blueberries (in appropriate portions). Treats are a great way to build trust and reinforce her routine.

Mia’s housetraining is strong with structure. She will often sit by the door or whine when she needs to go out, but if her signals are missed, she may have an accident near the door. For this reason, Mia would do best in a house (not an apartment) with a fenced in yard with an adopter who can keep a regular schedule and respond quickly to her cues.

Mia also needs clear boundaries around food. She can be food protective and may growl if someone tries to take her food, or if another pet gets too close to her meals, treats, or chews. Feeding her separately and giving her space while eating will set her up for success.

Her crate is her safe place—it’s where she can rest, relax, and feel secure. With structure, patience, and a steady routine, Mia will be a loving companion in the right home.

Dog-to-dog: Mia is friendly overall, but she can become defensive with unfamiliar dogs who rush into her space with high energy—especially larger dogs. She may growl and could lunge to create distance. For her comfort and safety, we recommend no dog parks, no on-leash greetings, and avoiding close encounters with unknown dogs.

Handling note: If Mia is scared and feels cornered, we do not advise picking her up. In a high-stress moment, she may bite accidentally. Mia will do best with an adopter who has prior dog experience and can read canine body language.

Think Mia might be your match? Fill out an application or message us to set up a meet-and-sniff! Mia is located in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity.
