Ernie and Stella are two adorable senior poodle mixes with big personalities, even bigger hearts, and a bond that’s uniquely their own. While they aren’t inseparable, they’ve supported each other through a lot (including recent dental surgeries!) and would love a calm and understanding home where they can continue to thrive. Stella is pure sunshine wrapped in curls. She’s playful, affectionate, and lives for belly rubs, cuddles, and her beloved stuffies (especially her little bumblebee 🐝). She’ll happily parade it around to let you know it’s bedtime! Stella may give a quick bark or growl when meeting new people, but warms up quickly. Ernie is our sweet little “weirdo” in the best possible way. He’s loyal, soulful, and happiest close to his humans. Mostly deaf, he navigates the world visually and is learning hand signals like a champ. Around the house, he’s calm, affectionate, and full of hilarious quirks—from his post-walk wiggle-dance to his… legendary “helicopter poos” 🤭. He’s not big on toys, but his little hedgehog companion is always close by.

These two sleep soundly through the night in their cozy beds (though they wouldn’t say no to sleeping closer to you!), enjoy lounging around, and being wherever you are. They both enjoy daily walks and yard time: Stella is a “stop and smell the roses” kind of girl whereas Ernie is alert, curious… and very focused on marking his territory. Ernie is reactive to other dogs and requires a confident and patient handler willing to continue working on his behaviour and providing him with ongoing management and support.

Ernie and Stella are companion dogs through and through: they love their humans more than anything else. Their ideal home is quiet, adult-only, and free of other pets. They would love a secure yard and someone who is home more often than not (retired or work-from-home would be ideal!). The bottom line is that Stella will make you laugh, cuddle you endlessly, and brighten your days with her joyful spirit. Ernie… will surprise you. Beneath his challenges is a deeply loyal, sensitive little dog who forms strong bonds and just wants to feel safe. With the right person, he has so much love to give. Together, they’re a quirky, endearing pair who will reward the right home with companionship, personality, and plenty of memorable moments.
