DESCRIPTION

I am being fostered in Milford, NH and available for meet and greets!

Hi, I’m Sonny… and if you’re someone who appreciates a gentle, affectionate soul, I think we might understand each other.
I’m a 2-year-old, 55 lb boy with a sweet, mellow, and very human-oriented personality. I love being near my people, but I do it in a softer, more thoughtful way. I’m not the loud, center-of-attention type—I’m the one who stays close, watches, and connects once I feel safe.
I’ll be honest… I can be a little shy at first, especially with men. It just takes me a bit of time and patience to feel comfortable. But once I do, I bond deeply and quickly, and that connection becomes something really special. I’m the kind of dog who doesn’t give my heart away instantly—but when I do, I mean it.
I’ve done well with older, gentle children, and I’m great with other dogs. I enjoy their company and know how to be around them without being overwhelming. I’m not a high-energy dog either—I’m perfectly happy with a walk around the neighborhood and then settling in close to my person.
On walks, I’m a really nice companion. I’m non-reactive and don’t have a prey drive, which makes things feel calm and manageable. I do get a little excited and like to walk at my own pace, so I’ll need some continued guidance with heeling on leash, especially since I’m a strong boy. I also sometimes jump up when I’m excited, so that’s something I’m still learning too.
I can be a bit sensitive to my environment. Loud or sudden noises can startle me, and when that happens I might feel unsure for a moment. I’m not a big barker, and I don’t have separation anxiety—I just need a little time and reassurance when I’m adjusting to new sounds. Once I know I’m safe, I settle right back in.
Because of that, I’d do best in a home with someone who has dog experience and a bit of patience, especially as I continue building confidence around human males and learning my manners. I’m already a really good boy—I just need someone willing to guide me a little as I grow.
At home, I’m all about the simple things. I love to cuddle, stay close, and just be part of your space. I’m not here to create chaos—I’m here to bring a quiet kind of companionship that feels steady and real.
I’m crate trained, house trained, and up to date on all my vaccinations, so I’m ready to transition smoothly into the right home.
I was rescued in Texas, and now I’m looking for a foster-to-adopt home in the northern states—a place where I can take my time settling in and truly feel safe.
What that means is that my future family gets 2–3 weeks to bring me home, get to know me, and see how I fit into everyday life before making a final decision. There’s no pressure—just real time together to see if it feels right.
If for any reason it’s not the perfect match, my rescue will find me another foster-to-adopt home up north, so I can keep moving toward the home that’s meant for me.

I have a feeling my person is out there… and if you’ve made it this far, I think we might need to meet.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
