DESCRIPTION

📌 Important Information
• All dogs are currently in foster care in Mexico 🇲🇽. They're listed in Oregon for adoption purposes as that's where our rescue is based.
• Dogs fly to Portland (PDX) once adoption is approved, arriving within 2–4 weeks. ✈️ This reduces stress for them and ensures safe travel.

💛 About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative)
Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico’s streets. Our rescue works at the source through spay/neuter programs, rescue, and adoption into loving homes.
Since 2019: 🐶 500+ dogs adopted • ✂️ 3,500+ dogs spayed/neutered

🐾 Meet SANTINA 🐾

• AGE: ~4 years old
• WEIGHT: ~18 lbs
• BREED(S): Miniature Schnauzer mix (our best guess since they’re rescues!)
• GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries.
• HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training.

Santina spent years in a backyard with her daughter Valentina, both of them largely forgotten. No grooming, no vet care, no real attention — just the two of them making the best of a quiet, neglected life.

When rescuers finally came, Santina's first instinct was to protect her little girl. New dogs crowding around Valentina made her tense and defensive — the reaction of a mom who'd been the only one watching out for her pup for a very long time.

However, she didn't need long to realize she could let her guard down. Once she understood everyone was safe, Santina exhaled. "She settled right in," her foster Susana says. "Now she gets along perfectly with everyone."

And she really does. She plays happily with the other dogs, takes her walks like a pro — leash manners and all — and lights up when there are treats involved. Now that she is safe and cared for, the true Santina has finally emerged.

There's an ease to her now, a quiet confidence that feels hard-earned. She's not flashy or demanding. She's just solid, warm, and reliably good company. An all-around lovely dog.

Santina is ready for a home where she's finally the one being looked after. After years of doing the looking after herself, she's more than earned it.

Do you have a spot on the couch for her?
