📌 Important Information
• All dogs are currently in foster care in Mexico 🇲🇽. They're listed in Oregon for adoption purposes as that's where our rescue is based.
• Dogs fly to Portland (PDX) once adoption is approved, arriving within 2–4 weeks. ✈️ This reduces stress for them and ensures safe travel.
💛 About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative)
Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico’s streets. Our rescue works at the source through spay/neuter programs, rescue, and adoption into loving homes.

🐾 Meet ROY 🐾
• AGE: ~10 months old
• WEIGHT: ~18 lbs
• BREED(S): Miniature Poodle mix (our best guess since they’re rescues!)
• GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries.
• HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training.
He wasn't wandering — he was hiding. Roy had squeezed himself under a gate at a property where another rescue dog was being kept, like he'd decided that wherever there were people caring for animals, that was where he needed to be. He was dirty, hungry, and covered in fleas. His foster Susana took one look at him and couldn't leave him there.
He arrived skittish and easily startled — flinching at sudden movements in a way that told a story nobody had to spell out. "It was clear someone had hit him," Susana says. Loud noises, quick gestures — things that should mean nothing made him shrink.
That version of Roy is mostly gone now. He's integrated beautifully with the other dogs in foster, found his footing, made friends. He still has the occasional moment of hesitation, but each week there are fewer of them. These days he's most likely to be found stretched out in a sunny patch of the yard, completely at peace.
Roy is calm and sweet considering his young age — genuinely easy and even mature. Maybe it's the fact that he had to deal with life on the streets on his own as a puppy. He is ready for a forever home where his true personality, that he perhaps never had the chance to develop, can finally emerge.
He's still learning leash manners but picks things up quickly (it's those poodle smarts!). He would thrive in a home without too much chaos or sudden commotion, where he can keep building the confidence that's already so clearly there.
Could your home be that place for Roy?
