Mastiff Dogs Available for Adoption

NELSON (JA26-144)

Mastiff
🇺🇸
Peyton, Colorado
February 26th
male, large, senior

DESCRIPTION

Nelson is a 9-year-old, 96 lb mastiff with a sweet and affectionate personality. He loves being part of the action but, due to his age, sometimes struggles to keep up. Nelson is highly food motivated and once he sets his mind on something, he is determined-whether it's a treat, a toy, or a game.

He adores his toys and walks well on a leash, though he has some mobility issues due to Spondylosis and will need a home willing to cater to his needs and manage his pain as needed for the rest of his life. Nelson also loves to relax in bed or soak up the sunshine. He gets along with dogs of all sizes, but very high-energy pups can be a bit much for him. He would thrive in a home with calm, gentle canine companions who will play with him at his own pace.

If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and gentle giant who enjoys toys, treats, relaxation, and companionship, Nelson could be the perfect addition to your family. A meet and greet at the shelter is required to ensure a great fit with both people and pets.
------
Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
