Chewy's results are in! The results were a bit of a surprise as Chewy looks very much the Shih Tzu. This 13 year old has been in foster for a bit. His medical is now completed. His foster parents considered keeping him, but Chewy has not been appreciative of the bigger family dogs at all. So it’s determined he would be happier in a one dog home with maybe one smaller breed doggy. He also tends to do walk-abouts, so a fenced yard would be highly recommended. Chewy does well with adults but tends to be a bit of a grumpy soul which makes him not so child friendly. This senior man needs someone who will accept his occasional crankiness, willing to belly band him as his house manners are not always the best and understands Chewy really does not like to kennel. Even tho’ he can be strong willed and a bit stubborn, he’s not a bad dog. He does like attention, can be warm and friendly with people he knows (tends to like “mom” best), sleeping on the bed or parked on the couch beside his person makes him happy, likes walks, is loyal, displays a vigilant watchdog temperament and moderate barking tendencies. He is a groom dog which means low shedding and future groomer appointments. Chewy is not too interested in playing as he has a lower energy level now - nap times are definitely on the schedule. We are aware that senior dogs are less in demand for potential adopters and Chewy will definitely require patience and understanding, but we also believe there is a perfect home where he can thrive and be happy! If you would like to adopt this little dude with a ‘tude, email Carol at kkcalaska@gmail.com and request an adoption application.
