Rescue story:
Romina’s story is one of quiet resilience, gentle love, and a heart that never gave up — even when life gave her every reason to.

In a crowded, crumbling shelter in Mexico, where over 200 dogs struggled to survive in poor conditions, Romina did her best to stay unnoticed. She wasn’t the loudest or the pushiest — instead, she carried herself with a calm, watchful spirit. In that difficult place, she became a mother. She gave birth to her puppies surrounded by uncertainty and hardship, doing everything she could to protect them.
Tragically, only one of her babies survived… but Romina never stopped loving with her whole heart.

When rescuers arrived after the passing of the shelter’s owner, Romina’s life finally began to change. She left behind the only world she had known and slowly began learning what safety, kindness, and comfort feel like. Now, this beautiful mini lab mix with her soft light brown and white coat is blossoming into the dog she was always meant to be. Romina is incredibly gentle and loving. She is wonderful with everyone she meets — men, women, children, dogs, and even cats. She has a quiet, easygoing nature that makes her such a calming presence in a home. She isn’t a barker, she isn’t reactive, and she doesn’t seek chaos — she simply wants to be near her people, soaking in affection and offering her own in return.

Romina has a medium energy level, enjoying her daily walks (which she does beautifully on leash) and then happily settling down to relax. She rides well in the car, is crate trained, and is currently working on her house training — making steady progress with consistency and patience. Romina can live in an apartment, but she would truly love a home with a yard where she can safely explore and enjoy the fresh air at her own pace. While she gets along wonderfully with other dogs, she doesn’t depend on one — she would be just as happy as your one-and-only, as long as she has love.

What makes Romina so special isn’t just her gentle temperament — it’s her strength. Despite everything she’s been through, she remains soft, trusting, and full of quiet hope. She is the kind of dog who won’t demand attention but will deeply cherish every bit of it. The kind who will follow you from room to room just to be close. The kind who will remind you, every single day, what unconditional love looks like. Romina has known loss… but she is so ready to know forever. All she needs now is someone to show her that her story doesn’t end in sadness — it begins again in love.
