Meet Leo, the affectionate and playful boy who’s ready to find his forever family! This brave and gentle soul is always up for an adventure and will bring plenty of love and laughter into your home. Leo is a smart and curious dog who loves to proudly carry his toys around and show them off to everyone.
Leo has been through quite a journey already. We believe he was hit by a car before coming into care, which required him to have an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery a couple of months ago. The good news is that he has healed very well and is feeling great now. Because the injury went untreated for a while, he will always walk with a slight funny gait and has a bit of muscle wasting in that leg, but it doesn’t slow him down from enjoying life.
He’s a friendly and loyal companion who absolutely adores people, especially kids. Leo loves following children around, happily accepting cuddles and attention whenever he can get it. His goofy, playful personality makes him a joy to be around, and he’s always ready for a game or a good belly rub.
Leo is an athletic young dog who would love an active family and a yard where he can play and explore. He’s still working on building his confidence around cars, but with patience, love, and positive experiences, he continues to grow braver every day.
Because he’s still young, Leo does experience some separation anxiety and does best in a home where someone is around most of the time. When left alone for long periods he can get a little stressed, so using a crate helps him feel safe and prevents him from getting into mischief. With routine, training, and consistency, this is something that can improve greatly over time.
Leo would likely do best as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention. He’s a quick learner who already knows how to sit and is working on shaking paws. With his loving nature and big goofy heart, Leo is sure to make an incredibly devoted companion for the lucky family who welcomes him home.
