DESCRIPTION
This is Chicago! He is about three months old, is neutered and is currently living in a foster home. We were told that Chicago is possibly a lab/Australian shepherd mix but we cannot guarantee a breed. After reading all about this lil' guy, please email us at pets@michianapets.org if you'd like to adopt him! He does have a few adoption requirements so please read through until the end!
"Chicago, aka Chi (shy) Guy, arrived at the shelter terrified of humans. He would flinch at human touch, and his little mouth would be open prepared to react if he felt threatened...but he has grown so much in the short amount of time that I have had him.
He clearly had food insecurity as he would be ready to eat as soon as his sister was going to the bathroom. He would also guard his food-he will need to be separated from other animals when he is being fed or given treats. He clearly had a rough start and had to fight for whatever he could get.
He has done so much better now as I know what his needs are. He is a very sweet boy with the most gorgeous blue eyes. He wants to play constantly; he is a sucker for a squeaky toy.
Chicago has done great with my big dogs and my cat. Chicago will do great with a friendly dog that can show him the ropes. He will need his humans to give him time to earn his trust. Once he knows that your intentions are good, he will start letting you in. I have no doubt that he will be a loving addition to his future home." -Chicago's foster mom.
Chicago will be a "foster-to-adopt" for two weeks. We'd like to ensure his adjustment is successful, and we are here to guide his adopters. Chicago MUST be adopted into a home with another dog who is friendly and welcoming. He really shines brighter around other dogs. Children should be about 10ish and older. Chicago's adopter should be familiar with and have experience with under-socialized dogs. We think he'd love to have someone who is interested in training so he can learn lots of good things!
