Meet our super happy go lucky Lab girl named Abby! Abby will be turning 11 years old in May. She came to our shelter after her owners lost their home and could no longer care for Abby. When Abby first came in to her care, she had a very large tumor located on her right hip area. Poor Abby was so uncomfortable and had began chewing at the tumor causing it to rupture. We were able to get Abby the surgery she needed to remove the tumor and have it sent for a biopsy. The biopsy did show that the tumor was a matrical carcinoma which is cancer. The good news is no cancer has metastasized through her body and the report states this type has a low grade malignancy. There is always a chance this could grow back, but low grade means this would be a very slow growth. With Abby's age, she just needs a final loving home to enjoy. She doesn't deserve to spend any more time living in a noisy kennel.
Abby loves a big soft bed to lay in! She is a great eater and hasn't shown to be picky at all. Abby's favorite thing in the world are TOYS! All stuffed toys and tennis balls are her life. Her special skill is fitting multiple toys in her mouth at the same time, to the point where you can't believe she has so many! Abby still has plenty of energy for an older girl. She will follow us at our heels while doing laps in our backyard. She is housetrained and is extremely clean in her kennel. Abby is good with other dogs and she can go to a home with children 8 years old and older. We are looking for a very special home for this very special girl!
