BONNIE #7439

Labrador Retriever
🇺🇸
Louisville, Kentucky
March 5th
female, medium, young

DESCRIPTION

Bonnie came to GRRAND from London, KY after a Good Samaritan intervened when her former owner threatened to drown her and her six puppies. Thanks to that brave act, this little family is now safe and beginning their healing journey.
Bonnie is a 1(ish) year old female Labrador who is severely underweight, and we're working on getting her back to a healthy place. Here's what we know so far:

• She's just a pup herself — we estimate around 1 year old, and we'll confirm with our vet.
• She is incredibly affectionate, gentle, and devoted to her babies.
• She has multiple puncture wounds that are already beginning to heal.
• She appears to be potty trained, with only one accident since arriving in foster care.
• Her leash skills have already improved dramatically in just 24 hours.
• She is extremely treat motivated and is already learning basic commands.
• She loves being close to her foster family, offering kisses, nuzzles, and appreciation.
• She's not overly vocal and has shown ABSOLUTELY NO signs of aggression.
• We haven't tested her with other dogs or cats yet, but we don't anticipate issues once she's fully vetted.
• Given that she is a nursing mom and underweight we will not be attempting to crate train her at this time.

Bonnie has been through more than any young pup should but she shows nothing but love and affection to anyone who looks her way. Stay tuned for more updates on this brave momma and her beautiful pups as we will continue to post info as we learn more. Bonnie will need to wean her puppies before she is ready to go to her forever family, but for inquiries, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org
