Meet Jade!
This gorgeous girl is currently in a shelter environment, and it is absolutely no place for a dog in her golden years. Jade is believed to be around 9 years old and weighs 68 pounds. She is fully grown and has the classic look of a yellow Labrador, though without a DNA test we cannot officially confirm her breed.
We don’t know much about Jade’s past, but she has been waiting in the shelter since the beginning of February for someone to give her the forever home she deserves. Too often, senior dogs are overlooked simply because of their age. What they offer, though, is something truly special — calm companionship, grateful hearts, and a lifetime of love still waiting to be shared. Senior dogs tend to settle in quickly, understand routines, and cherish every moment with their people. Through no fault of their own, they are often among the most vulnerable when shelters become overcrowded, making their need for adoption even more urgent.
We suspect Jade may have lived in a home at one point because she is such a perfect companion with the sweetest demeanor. The shelter reports that she appears to be potty trained, is gentle, loving, and very affectionate. She has an outgoing personality and has done great around other dogs. She is a true social butterfly who loves every person she meets. Jade is eager to please and walks beautifully on leash.
Each day that passes in the shelter puts her more at risk, as seniors are not often the first to be chosen. But we want to emphasize that Jade still has so much life left. She just needs someone willing to take a chance on her and give her the comfort and security she so desperately deserves.
If you are looking for an easygoing, mellow girl, Jade might be the one for you. That said, don’t mistake her calm nature for lack of spirit — she is always happy to join you for a nice walk or a little adventure. She would love a home with access to a yard, but we are open to apartment living on a case-by-case basis. She is adaptable and simply wants to be by her person’s side.
The shelter Jade is currently in is severely overcrowded, and we cannot pull her without a committed adopter. She deserves so much more than a kennel — she deserves a soft bed, a loving home, and a family to cherish her golden years.
Health:
Jade is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. She is healthy, happy, and ready to begin her next chapter.
Information:
All of our dogs, including Jade, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to adopters once adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee. Breed labels are educated guesses based on appearance and shelter records — we encourage adopters to focus on personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than breed alone.
