Whiskey is a 7 yo spayed female silver lab who has been enjoying a well-earned vacation with this foster auntie, who has been grateful to host a dog who is house-trained, adaptable, and well-mannered. There has been no aggression observed (resource guarding) or other behavioral issues. Whiskey is an owner-surrender, who reported she was task-trained in PTSD nightmare interruption.
Outside of her previous training, Whiskey is a typical lab, which means she will walk forever with you, loves a good game of fetch, always has her curious nose to the ground, and hasn't met a snack she didn't like. Because of her age, she is equally enthusiastic about naps and cuddling. Because of her training, she is quite polite: she sits close when you're eating but doesn't beg; walks well on a loose leash and responds promptly to a verbal command. When outside, she is quite curious about small and fast things: balls, squirrels, bunnies, etc. Any current-resident small creatures should be introduced cautiously. She is quite smart, having easily learned routines, house-sounds, "place", and how to wait patiently by the door while I get ready for walks. She loves a good car ride with the windows down. She draws such beautiful nose-art on my windows.
Whiskey is so very people-oriented. She just wants to be wherever you are, curled up and snoozing next to you. When meeting strangers, she will often alert-bark with a wagging tail and soft eye contact. She has lived successfully with children. Whiskey will verbalize her boundaries and move away from those who don't listen. Whiskey does not like dogs near her face; while she has not bitten, she will growl to make it known.
An ideal home would include someone who is willing to indulge her joy and enthusiasm for long and sniffy walks; a fenced in yard would make her ecstatic, especially if you play ball with her. In return, she will bring you love and goofiness, affection and comfort.
